JD Samson & MEN
JD Samson is best known as leader of the band MEN and for being one-third of the electronic-feminist-punk band and performance project, Le Tigre. For more than a decade JD's career as a singer, producer and DJ has landed her at the intersection of music, art, activism, and fashion. In 2007, MEN began as a DJ/Remix/Production team featuring JD. Eventually, MEN became a live band and art collective.
Since their inception, the band has toured extensively internationally from LA and New York to Moscow and Shanghai to Paris and Sydney, whether it be at museums or dance-clubs, performing with the likes of Gossip, Peaches, and CSS.
"If Giorgio Moroder called Donna Summer right now, her ringtone would probably be Sister Mantos' SHPSHFTER"
Sister Mantos is a low fi disco not disco punk experimental funk performance art freak ass band from Los Angeles via Central America.
Sister Mantos is a solo performance band or a huge orchestra depending on the
time and place but a guaranteed party either way.
Audeinces are sent on a spaced out psychedelic road trip and treated to mystical costumes, spastic dancing, bumping beats and POSITIVE ENERGY.
Sister Mantos has toured the US and EU before and has shared the stage with
the likes of Light Asylum, Mirror Mirror, Jessie Evens, Pens, TEETH! and
and a bunch of other strange and experimental weird ass bands.
Sister Mantos says " We want to play your queer situation, your diy space, your living room. Positive vibes. Big hearts. Sweat stains."
Described by Jen DM as an “all sensory take-over,” HI FASHION’s live show combines dancers, video, and experimental performance to blur the line between spectator and performer and offer an opportunity for a visceral and primal experience. Their eclectic blend of electronic dance-pop draws comparison to the likes of Scissor Sisters, Grace Jones, and Peaches.
Their track "AMAZING" is currently being used for the promos for RuPaul's Drag Race and selections from their e.p. "YOU ARE GORGEOUS" released in July of 2013 are featured in the new Darren Stein film "G.B.F."
